Link in bio for affiliate links: a UK creator's guide

A link in bio for affiliate links is one page, linked from your social profile, that holds your tracked brand links and discount codes so followers can shop what you recommend and you earn commission on approved sales.

What is a link in bio for affiliate links?

A link in bio is the single clickable link most social platforms let you put on your profile. Instagram, TikTok and YouTube all send followers there when you say "link in bio".

An affiliate link in bio is the same idea, built for earning. Instead of a plain list of links, the page holds tracked affiliate links and discount codes from brands. When a follower clicks through and buys, the sale is credited to you and you earn commission once the brand approves it.

Why does a plain link list lose sales?

A basic link list was built to point people somewhere, not to help them buy. For affiliate income it tends to fall short in three ways:

  • No tracking by default. A normal URL to a shop does not credit you. Only a tracked affiliate link or a code tied to you does.
  • Codes live in captions. If a discount code sits in an old caption or story, followers have to hunt for it, and it may have expired.
  • Every brand is a separate admin job. Applying to programmes, copying links and checking they still work takes time away from making content.

What does a good affiliate link in bio need?

If you are choosing a tool, look for these basics:

  1. Tracked links for every brand. Each click should be tied to you so approved sales are credited to you.
  2. Codes shown next to the offer. Followers should see the code and the link in the same place.
  3. Control over what shows. You should be able to add, remove and reorder offers as your content changes.
  4. Clear earnings terms. You should know what share of commission you keep, any fees, and the minimum before you can be paid.
  5. Room for disclosure. You still need to label affiliate content clearly (more on that below).

How does a CreatorLounge lounge work?

CreatorLounge is a global creator affiliate platform, founded in the UK. Your page on CreatorLounge is called a lounge: one link in bio page of brand offers that you choose yourself.

  • Build your lounge. Sign up, set your username and pick the brands you want to feature from the brand directory.
  • Curate it. You can switch offers on or off, choose how each offer is displayed (for example a banner or a simpler logo layout), set the order, and customise your hero and accent colour.
  • Share it. Put your lounge URL in your Instagram, TikTok or YouTube bio, or anywhere else you have an audience.
  • Earn. Every link is tracked through the brand's affiliate network with you credited for the sale. You keep 50% of the approved commission on every sale, with a £50 minimum payout.

It is free for creators. There are no signup fees, monthly subscriptions or platform charges; the 50/50 revenue share is the only cost. You can read more on the For Creators page and in how the lounge works.

Brands manage their own offers and codes in a brand portal and can add or remove offers themselves, so you are not left showing an offer the brand has taken down.

Do you need to label affiliate links in your bio?

Yes. In the UK, affiliate links are advertising, so content that promotes them needs to be clearly labelled. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) says affiliate content should be obviously identifiable, with a clear label such as "#Ad" (ASA: affiliate marketing). The ASA and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) also publish a joint guide for influencers (ASA: Influencers' guide), and the CMA has its own guidance on social media endorsements (GOV.UK: CMA guide for influencers).

In practice, label the posts and stories that point people to your lounge, not only the lounge itself. If you create for audiences outside the UK, check the rules that apply there too.

How do you get the most from your link in bio?

  • Feature brands you actually use. Recommendations land better when they match what you post.
  • Keep it focused. A shorter list of relevant offers is easier to shop than a long scroll.
  • Mention the page in content. Tell followers what they will find, for example "my favourite running kit and codes are in my bio".
  • Review it regularly. Reorder offers around seasons, launches and what your audience is asking about.
